    Note A:    Beginning from June 2015, the Company accounts for its investment in FARADAY as an associate given the fact that the Company obtained the ability to exercise significant influence over FARADAY through representation on its Board of Directors. As a result, the investment was reclassified out of the available-for-sale category as an investment in associate accounted for under the equity method. Fair value remeasurement that was previously recognized in other comprehensive income was reclassified to profit or loss in 2015.
    Note B:    SHANDONG HUAHONG, WINAICO SOLAR PROJEKT 1 GMBH and WINAICO IMMOBILIEN GMBH are joint ventures to the Company.
    Note C:    The Company follows international accounting practices in equity accounting for limited partnerships and uses the equity method to account for these investees.
    Note D:    The liquidation of MEGA was completed in March, 2017, and UMC has acquired cash proceeds from liquidation of investments amounted to NT$1,980 million.
